Hammer not falling when I try to fire
Hi, Just went out to fire my Model 629, thumbed the hammer back, squeezed the trigger, nothing happened. Trigger won't move, hammer won't move, cylinder won't move.

We need more information. Was this gun working before? One you just bought? What is the history? It may possibly be due to a broken trigger pivot pin, hard to say at this point.

Could also be an improperly fit or malfunctioning trigger stop. Many times the trigger stops inside the rebound slide are installed improperly. (reversed)
Also these stops can often malfunction when aftermarket rebound springs are used in the gun. Aftermarket springs can have a slightly different interior diameter, which can interfere with proper function.

First - unload it and don't load it again until it operates correctly without ammo. Is this a new gun? If so and this happens when no ammo is used, call the manufacturer with serial and receipt handy.
If not new, need more info like if it worked for you at one time or if it has been opened for any reason

You might have also had something break off inside the gun or have had something get inside that does not belong there jamming up the works. Sounds to me like removing the side plate and an inspection is in order. A cleaning and lube should be done at the same time. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, seek out a qualified and competent GS.
Years ago I had a small piece (where the Factory grinds the ends flat) of a Rebound Spring break off and jam up a M60. Apparently they ground one side too thin and it just broke off. A new Rebound Spring was all it took to restore perfect operation.

Isn't it great when someone starts a thread and then there is no word about a resolution?

Maybe he was standing in the wrong spot when he started hitting on it with a hammer.

Happens a lot. Also common that someone's first post asks a question about the value/history of a firearm. Lots of helpful responses often based on insufficient information in the OP. Never a thank you posted.
