Will 4.25" barrel fit an M&P 9 Compact

I like to put a longer barrel on my M&P 9 compact. Will thread it for a brake/compensator. I have a lathe to thread it and would like to make various brake styles as mill projects. But, I need more length on barrel to thread it. The full size M&P 9 has a 4.25" barrel that I would like to get if it will fit/function.

Appreciate any tips or other alternatives.
