Default Model 637 hammer block broke

I was shooting my normal carry gun, a model 637-2, this morning, when the gun froze up and I could not pull the trigger nor cock the hammer. Long story short, the hammer block had broken and a piece had become lodged somewhere in the internals causing it to lock up. MidwayUSA and Brownell's neither one had the part in stock. I was able to find one tat Numrich Gun Parts that was listed for fitting the 631-1.

Hopefully, it is the same as my 637-2 and will fit. I know things break from time to time but I'm still aggravated. The hammer block was not a part I would have thought would be break. Has anyone else had a hammer block break?

I called S&W and they are going to send me one. I cancelled my order with Numrich. I should have called S&W first.

Make this a sticky. Perfect answer as to why those rattly hammer blocks are in a sandwich bag in my closet.
