Default Who is good at cutting barrels?

I am wanting to build a 5" 29 as a shooter and would like to find someone that can cut a 6" barrel down and put the factory sight back on. I used to know who could do this at one time, but I have since forgotten.

Andy Horvath, he has a 25-2 right now cutting to 3 1/2" for me. He is using a Weigand front site base, it's like the interchangeable S&W Classic DX. Be patient when calling, better early abt 9 am. One man shop, I like the way he makes it look like the factory did it. There is another thread here asking the same thing with pics. Call 1-440-458-4369. Leave a message if you get the answering machine. Luckily, he is 30 min away from me, no web site. Good luck, Larry

I'll bump the thread, there is a link around post 17 to a gun he did.

It kinda depends on the factory front sight if it's really possible to "reset" it. A lot of times the ramp is longer then a inch. You be better off with dovetail, Weigand DX or slotting and pinning a sight in.
Here are some of the Weigand DX sights I put in over the weeks both are 4" to 3" chops

Default 629 Barrel

Have you checked with the factory? I recently purchased a new 5" barrel for a 625 from them. The cost was reasonable @ $150!
