Default 952 grips

When trying to remove the grips on my 952 one of the screws was so tight that the frame stud unscrewed from the frame. I think the part is fairly soft metal so I'm afraid to try and grip it with pliers. I'm thinking of reinstalling it and then use loctite on the frame stud and hope that is strong enough to hold. I already tried a little Kroil to loosen it up but no luck. Anyone have a better idea? If I fail and bugger up the frame stud any suggestion on where to look? No joy at Brownells and Numrich.

This is a very common occurrence with 1911's. So much so that I took two small pieces of oak, clamped them together in my drill press vice and drilled a hole slightly smaller than the bushing diameter. The hole was centered where the two pieces join, so each piece ended up with a 1/2 hole in it. An alternative would have been to drill a hole in a solid piece of oak then saw in half. Anyway, put the two pieces in a vice with the bushing in the hole and tighten. It's always held well enough to remove the screw and won't booger up the bushing.

LocTite may work as well, I just shied away from using it for this purpose, especially on a gun that didn't belong to me.

Typically, the frame is softer than the bushing. But, is the 952 frame steel or aluminum?

I've used the Loc-Tite trick on many 1911's. Degrease both frame and bushing/stud, CAREFULLY (don't want any to wick up the threads on the grip screw) apply red Loc-Tite to the frame or bushing and tighten firmly back into the frame. In half an hour or so the screw should back right out.
