Default Hammer dimensions

How can I tell if I have a N frame or K frame hammer?

I have a hammer I want to sell and have already sold my revolvers.

Basically the K and N hammers are identical except for the height of the hammer nose above the hammer stud hole. The N frame hammers are taller than the K frame. Offhand I cannot tell you what the two dimensions are, but the difference is only about 1/8". I am not in a position to measure either at the moment. If you try to install the wrong hammer in the wrong frame it will be very obvious that it is wrong.

A K frame hammer is about 1.725" tall, an N frame is about 1.850" tall. That makes the K not quite 1-3/4" and the N not quite 1-7/8".
