Default new ejector problems with my M52-2

Hi all. I broke the point off the front of the ejector on my 40-year old model 52-2 about three months ago.
Bought a replacement from Brownells, but it took a month to get to South Africa.
Fitted it three weeks ago and been having major issues since then - cases jam on election against top front of barrel, ruining the case. So far lost 100 cases out of 250 shot.
I was forced in desperation to remove the new ejector, altered the old one to work, (shortened and refaced front).
Since then NO more damaged cases and no ejection issues.
This makes me think that there may be several versions of the ejector, and maybe I just got the wrong one?
Can anybody comment or advise me further?

Default 52-2 ejectors

There was at least one revision/redesign of the ejector. The original part number for the 52-2 ejector was 06182. I believe Brownells sells part # 23019. The revision dealt with the profile of the bottom edge of the nose of the part, which originally had a "square" or sharp corner, and the "nose" was made slightly longer. (undercut longer) This sharp corner became a rounded profile in the new part, to help prevent breakage. also, the "added" free length and the small "seat" peened into the bottom edge of the nose helped it interface better (properly) with the top edge of the inserted magazine. See photos below....old ejector on left.

Keep in mind that the nose of the new ejector will be slightly longer, and you may have to modify the nose to a length and angle similar to the original one. Also, as you already know, your recoil spring, and it's affect on the speed of the slide opening and it's rearward travel plays a role in the effectiveness and reliability of the ejector and the ejection process. So you may have to tune your current recoil spring setup to work with the new ejector.

Let me know if you damage the new one, or need a spare. I have one (# 23019) I can send you....and you won't have to pay the added shipping fees etc.

Awesome reply, many thanks. I have decided to "gently" modify the new ejector towards the shape of the old one, (your pictures will help tremendously.) will let you know what progress I make.
Thanks a ton.
