Default Gold bead sight question

I want to install a gold bead to the patridge sight of a revolver and want your opinion on feasibility. I don't want this to be permanent. I have an SDM gold bead that I am going to cut to a very short length and glue it on the sight. Do you think this will work and what glue should be used? Any advice is appreciated.

you might be better off picking up a Mcgivern gold bead front sight and replacing the existing sight rather than attempting a modification. (assuming you are working on a smith)

If you are still interested in gluing a bead on an existing sight blade I might consider a cyanoacrylate adhesive, not sure how it will stand up to recoil and abuse or cleaning solvents. A more permanent adhesive would be to use a two part epoxy but you will likely damage the partridge front sight when you try removing the bead.

This is the sort of thing that does no good to your revolver's value if it is at all desireable.

If its a rough H&R, have at it!!

There's a product called Black Magic that will do the trick. Used to be sold by Brownell's, likely still is. One caveat-- when you put a tiny drop on that gold bead and touch it to the sight blade, be danged sure it's positioned just right because it will adhere RIGHT NOW and only heat (as in a deft touch with a propane torch) will dislodge it. I have a 12 ga. shotgun that I glued rifle sights on a dozen years ago, and right now if I took a hammer to those sights they would break before the glue gave up.

It would help to know what model you are putting it on, and include a picture of it's front sight.

I would use a little clear 2 part epoxy , slow curing not that 5 minute stuff , it can always be removed later .

I can't take a picture of it now. It is a 17-4, so I don't think recoil should be an issue. An SDM Mcgivern sight will not fit. I verified this by talking to SDM. He said that I could buy the bead and have a GS install it. I bought the bead but don't like the idea of messing with the original. I also don't want to permanently attach it. Really want to find something that will hold, but be able to take off without damage.
