Default Suggestions for filling in barrel markings on 1911

I've got a Sig 1911 that I swap between a 40S&W and 38 Super. I'd like to fill the etching over the barrels chamber that designates caliber so I can better read what barrel is installed. I've tried thinned paint but the etching is too fine to hold it. I was thinking maybe ink but figured I'd ask here before reinventing the wheel.
Thanks

Try "Lacquer Stik" from Brownell's.

This is paint in a stick form.
Just use a knife to scrap off the end to expose fresh material and rub it into the stamps.
Use paper towel slightly dampened with lacquer thinner to remove the excess from the surface, leaving the stamps filled.
Let dry 30 minutes or so.

This is very durable and lasts a long time.
Armorers and gunsmiths use it to fill sight markings.

People have also used crayons, but that melts with heat.
