Default Good day for a little maintenance...

I posted a thread several days ago about the new (and correct) stocks I got for my 14-1. User "Weatherby" suggested putting a bit of wax on the stocks to make them look better. This is something I have considered doing for a long time, but kept procrastinating getting some Ren Wax for this purpose. Thanks to Pauls prodding, I ordered a can of Ren Wax and it the UPS guy delivered it yesterday. Today was cold and windy, so I decided to make use of my time by waxing all my K-frame guns and stocks.

After completing the job, I had to ask myself why did I wait so long to do this! Renaissance Wax may not be cheap, but after doing 5 revolvers, there is probably enough left to do about 50,000 more. Man, this stuff is really great.

Do yourself a favor and get some of this and add a bit of protection to your cherished firearms. Thanks, Paul, for the gentle prodding.

Been meaning to get it, but got distracted. Added to my Amazon shopping cart now, to get it with my next order when the cart adds up to get free shipping.

Great product, I use it all the time on all my firearms. Yes, it isn't cheap but you get what you pay for.

I really like RenWax but have found it isn't the greatest for daily use guns. It is more for storage protection in my eyes.

Sometimes I will coat the grip frame and inside the grips with it for protection, but everywhere else I go with CLP. Most of my guns are carry guns and the others are range guns, so I shoot them too often to have to worry about applying and removing wax. CLP is much more effective for protection and lubrication on guns used daily. RenWax and CLP don't really mix so I go with one or the other. Wax don't lube, so.

If you want to store a gun for a long while, then the wax is great. Or if using the wax on daily use guns works for some, then more power to you. Use what works.

It is a good day to do some maintenance. I just got through treating and re-blackening the bed of my vintage Chevrolet Avalanche. That was no fun. I'm going to work on some guns now. More fun.

we got 15 inches of snow last Thursday so I spent the weekend in the garage with bottles of Hoppes #9, gun oil, bore snakes, cleaning patches, cleaning rods, brushes, jags, Ren wax and guns.I made it through about half of the long guns and didn't start on the short guns. It's turned into a job and I'm taking a break today! Supposed to snow this evening and I' looking for spring!

Nice looking collection you have there!!!! What do most people use on their blued guns to get that shiny mirrored finish? I do know NOT to use hoppes#9 on a blued gun, but what is being used to protect the finish? Thanks Ron (Specifically im working my 29-10 and 586 6" )

actually #9 is fine on blued, its the nickel finishes that are at risk, as #9 may attack the plating on your nickel firearm.
