Apex vs gunsmith trigger job

This past summer I bought a used shield from a person who said he did a trigger job on this gun. The gun operated fine except it had a horrible trigger. I took it to my friendly neighborhood gunsmith to get a trigger job and also have him check the innards for any damage from the untrained gunsmith. There was no damage and after the trigger job the pistol has a smooth light trigger that breaks cleanly and has a short reset.
My question is the gunsmith charged 100.00 dollars less than the apex trigger. What would be the advantage of me getting an apex verses having him do another trigger job on the second shield I have?

if you are pleased with the trigger job that the smith did on the Shield, the advantage would be $100 still in your pocket.

I have never heard folks complain about Apex components so likely a great choice if you go for the DYI option.

However, think of a gunsmith as the guy that knows how to do all the right work to get to the result you want. A good gunsmith knows the interaction of components and knows where to make adjustments and refinements that enhance the trigger action. Since each gun chassis has different tolerances the proper fitting of all make things work in harmony, sometimes drop in components are still restricted by other internal issues that need to be corrected.

If your gunsmith satisfied you the first time I would personally stick with his expertise, you can also confer with him about Apex components to get another professional opinion.

$100.00 less than an Apex kit ! No advantage what so ever over the Apex. Apex kit is for the guy who wants a better trigger but doesn't have access to a " GOOD" gunsmith and it keeps him with a safe trigger. And you get to say...." I did it myself" .

After having a trigger job done by the legendary folks at Clark Custom Gun's in my area , no more kits.....those gunsmiths make a trigger a lovely magical experience , worth every penny !
Good gunsmith's and auto mechanic's are getting hard to find , treat him real nice !
