Does S&W perform factory repairs or alterations on discontinued models ?
I have a S&W Mdl. 28-2 with 6 " barrel that I would like to have changed to a 4" barrel. I also need a complete replacement rear sight assembly and standard trigger for this same revolver.
YUP! I agree. Buy another gun and sells yours if you don't want the 6" version. With the price of old barrels, labor and shipping it's just not worth the expense to swap it out. Even back in the day when the old models were current and parts were available readily, it was still preferable (at least in my book) to do the same.
All that said, you WILL loose performance of the .357 Magnum, Cartridge out of a 4" tube. The Magnum was really designed and meant for the 6" barrel length - - - just saying.....
