Default Fitting old stag stocks

I have a bargain bin set of stag grips that I bought. They are a little oversized for my N frame.I would like to shape them down to fit the frame better. I am sure this is a trial and error type of thing, but I figured I had better ask someone that has done this sort of thing. I assume it is just a lot of hand sanding until proper fit. What grit of paper should I use for rough cutting and finishing. It looks like there is some fungus or bacteria in the stag as well. Can I bleach this out? I wouldn't want moisture attacking my frame. When finished with fitment, do I need to polish the stag? Do I need to treat the stocks to prevent future bacterial formation? All insight is greatly appreciated.

Matthew

Time out...FWIW........... those are Samber Stag....... and IIRC pre-war N-frame grip frames were longer than post war frames.

Those might be worth some serious $$$$s to someone ...... enough to buy at least one or maybe two sets or new stag grips from Pat Grashorn /Executioner

Now that's the spirit one finds on this Forum.

LOL... that's how I learned about the different frame lengths..... I found an 98% RM with of all things Pachmyer grips.

Pat Grashorn made me a set of no bark stag grips for it as the correct grips ......if I could have found a set would have set me back more than I paid for the gun itself !!!!!!!!!
