Default Need Part!

I have a S&W M&P .38 Spl.
Serial number 404900
I need a "hammer nose" as it is called. I call it a firing pin, anyway.
Do any of you members possibly have one? Know where I can get one? Also need the cross pin.
I noticed the current pin is flared in place. How to remove easily??

All help appreciated!

To remove the pin, drive it out with a straight punch. Once it is re installed, stake it with a center punch.

Notice that the factory hammer nose is free to move up and down slightly and freely. When you re-stake your new hammer nose, be sure and not over stake to the point the newly installed nose is seized in place. ....

Some hammer noses were known to have a very small coil spring behind them. Watch when you remove the broken piece for one of those springs. If there is one then it should be reinstalled behind the new hammer nose. ......

Aside from Jack First you can also find hammer noses on Ebay and also from Numerich. I don't believe that older revolvers like yours have the hammer nose spring. If you can get a new rivet. The rivets are harder to get for newer hammer noses than the nose. While they can be reused if you are careful, they also can be damaged on removal. You will be able to tell if the hammer nose has a spring before removal. Simply push it down or up slightly and see if it springs back to it's original start position. I believe the hammer nose spring is a late 60's change, although I could be wrong. If your nose takes a spring it is a different shape than those that don't. Hammer noses which take a spring have a small slot that the spring fits in. The ones made for no spring don't have the slot.
