Smile Front Sight Exchange

Hi:
My Model 457 prints low of POA. I am considering exchanging the front sight for a lower one. How difficult is this

If I remember it, that gun has an odd front sight. One of the S&W armorers here may have a positive answer for you, but I am not too optimistic. Have you tried several different types of ammo to see if one might cure your problem? Heavier bullet weights might help.

Why not just file the front sight shorter until it prints where you want it to?

I TOO AGREE FRIEND. IIRC, THE FRONT SIGHT IS BLUED STEEL. A FEW PASSES WITH A SHARP FILE, AND IN THE END SOME COLD BLUE ON IT. HOWEVER, I WOULD FIRST MAKE SURE SHOOTING FROM A STEADY BENCH THAT IT IS THE SIGHT'S FAULT, AND NOT ME THAT IS CAUSING THE OFF POI.
