Default Ruger Standard Magazine Spring Replacement

I recently bought a Ruger Standard Model .22 pistol (ca. 1954) in excellent condition which came with two mags, one being the original, the other being for the later Mark II. The original mag has the zig-zag follower spring which seems to me to be fairly weak. I have tried stretching it, but that provides only temporary results. While the pistol seems to work fine with a slightly modified Mark II magazine (which uses a coil mag spring), I would like to make the early Standard magazine workable, as it is otherwise in excellent condition. I have looked on the internet, and can't find any sources for a new and correct replacement zig-zag follower spring. Any ideas?

I've got three of the old silver bottom mags and couldn't get any of them to work reliably. One looks new but won't feed nine rounds without a bobble or two. Finally gave in and used newer mags with the button moved to the right side Ruger Standard Magazine Spring Replacement

Yes, my mag has the elongated chromed or nickeled base. These old-style mags are not difficult to find on GunBroker or eBay, but I suspect they will have no better follower springs than the one I already have. I was hoping to find maybe a NOS spring. I would like to keep this Ruger original as it looks like it was made yesterday. But no big deal if I can't find a spring.
