Default Wear/ Chip on a blue finish
Anyone see this before in a blue gun? It looks to me like the bluing chipped or a scratch off. It is not my gun. Comment will be appreciated, thanks

That looks though the bluing and into the metal. No easy way to repair it that makes the gun appear undamaged and uniform in finish.

Looks like blood caused corrosion.
Full refinish is the only proper solution.

OR...... the last owner was a lefty and his holster had a thumb snap that wore away the bluing.

Best think to do is to remove rust with Copper Wool and then re-blue with cold blue. Birchwood Casey makes a small tipped bluing pen that might work well in this case.

BLOOD WAS THE FIRST THING IN MY MIND TOO FRIEND!!! I WOULD FIRST TRY STEEL WOOL AND COLD BLUE APPLIED CAREFULY ON SPOT, BEFORE GOING FOR A FULL REFINISH.

THAT MIGHT BE THE CASE INDEED, HOWEVER, I WOULD EXPECT THE SNAP TO HAD MARED THE FINISH ON THE WOOD GRIP TOO? OR THE GRIPS COULD HAVE BEEN CHANGED? I TOO VOTE FOR THE COLD BLUE EFFORT!

You may want to pull the grips. Looks like the same issues are going on around ther top of them and most likely underthem as well. You are right, I have never seen that either. Looks like its flaking and I don't see corrosion parse.

At this point it is moot as to the cause - but important to get it corrected.
