Default Smith & Wesson Customer Service Report.

Guys,

About 2 months ago, I discovered that I had a problem with my hammer nose bushing being recessed to the point that upon firing, the primers would back out into the recess in front of the hammer nose bushing, and impede cylinder rotation. On the advice of several guys on this site, I sent my S&W Model 25-5 back to Smith & Wesson to have a new hammer nose bushing installed. I am happy to report that even though this is their busiest time of year, I received it back in just 2 month's time. They did a great job, and it appears I got a freebie; inside the box with the revolver was a card stating: "Super Tuned Action by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, Retail Value of this Super Tuned Action is $89.00". A big "Thumbs Up" to Smith & Wesson.

You are a patient fellow Don For me two months is a long time but then again good things take time!
I am a bit shocked that they worked on your action without your permission but then again they know what to do to make the best of it and not sacrifice any dependability or safety so congrats on that and very nice of them to do that for you!

Enjoy the gun, sounds like a beauty sir

Thanks Karl. Yeah, it's a beauty all right. When it arrived I bestowed upon it a new (new to me) set of Bear Hug Skeeter Skelton Grips made in 1990 by Deacon Deason.

Do you notice much of a difference in the action?

To me, that's way too long...I sent in my Sig P290rs in for trigger issues and my S&W SD9VE for FTF issues. I sent them on the same day and about a week later got an email from each: Sig, telling me it was all fixed and on its way back to me.... The one from S&W told me the repairs dept had just received my gun ‍♂️.

All in all I got my Sig back in 9 days. Smith told me it would be 4 more weeks. IMO they are slow as molasses

Yeah, smooth as silk. Since my CCW is a S&W revolver, I like to shoot all my revolvers double-action so as to really get the pull sequence down pat.

They've always treated me good as gold. Sounds like you got what you wanted and more. 2 months is a bit slower than usual I think but it changes with the weather. Glad they fixed ya up.

Smith and Wesson has been in business for 150 + years. They know how to take care of customers. No one is perfect and I am sure S&W drops the ball sometimes, However for the most part they do a stand up job and are to be commended for their effort. They must get many and many requests for service from nothing wrong to something very complicated. They always seem to do a fantastic job. I have always been happy with the work done by them.

Talking

I should probably add, that although my 6" 25-5 was away for 2 months, it's not like I was without a .45 Colt, since my 4" 25-5 got more attention.

When people complain about how long things take, I usually keep my mouth shut. But in my head I am thinking "Do you want it done right, or do you want it right now?" Very often, it will either be one or the other. It is great if some companies can do it quickly and still get it right. But if I need to make a choice, I rather wait and have it done right the first time. This is especially true for revolvers, since repairs require a gunsmith, not just a parts swapper.

To the OP, glad to hear that everything was resolved to your satisfaction. That is what I expected from S&W.
