Default 625-2 Hand Change Out

Hey Gang, Just purchased a used 625-2 Model of 1989 no dash and the first thing I do with used revolvers is disassemble, clean and inspect. I notice it has a "floating" hand. The gun has been shot and was not a safe queen. This is my first experience with a floating hand and I don't know how much hand "movement" is acceptable, with regards to wear. From another older N-Frame I have a thinner, rounded and polished forged trigger and bobbed forged hammer set I'd like to install in the 625-2 for falling steel plate competition and was wondering if a one piece hand will work okay with the thinner trigger for the Model of 1989. The trigger and hammer set was for a no dash 57 I had and does not have a hand with it. Thanks for any help..

The hammer and trigger set that you want to install should work. You have about a 95% chance of having it fit. A regular hand will work. I have replaced several floating hands. I have found that the fixed hand usually needs to be .001" thicker than the floating hand to carry up correctly. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks, think I'll go that route. While you're here, do you know if I remover the floating hand "pin" in the original trigger, would a one piece hand fit in the hole properly?

They can be hard to get out. I have done a couple that were easy to remove; however, I have also seen a couple that were peened in so much it was not worth the effort.
