Did you remove the hand from the trigger when you stripped it? If so the little hairpin spring "inside" the trigger hollow slipped off. You will need to remove the trigger, and see if the spring is still there. If not order one from S&W, Brownells, etc. Probably $.50. When you go to install it, see if there area any you-tube video's so you can see first hand. I use a small screwdriver filed down to fit exactly inside the cavity of the trigger to push the one leg into place. You'll think you need three hands, if you have a small bench vice it can help. The hand will be very positively held forward and spring into place when properly installed.
