Default Best scope mount for a K frame (drilled & tapped)

Gents,

Please excuse my periodic absence from the forum. My work provides me with periods of crazy busyness (when I don't even have time to keep up with my passions) and periodic lulls in the action.

I am currently in a lull and have been considering scoping a K frame (19-8) in order to assist my aging eyes in handload development and testing.

I have never scoped a revolver before, and I'm considering the Weigand mount (found it on eBay), which seems designed for my factory drilled and tapped gun.

Is there a better option? My plan is to mount a normal magnified pistol scope of 2x or 4x.

I'd welcome any input from those who use or have used the Weigand mount, as well as other/better/different options.

Also, any other thoughts/advice/input on scoping a revolver is appreciated, because as I stated, this is my first go round.

Thanks

TRE

There are less expensive mounts, but the Weigand is one of the best. Claean screws and holes with alcohol. Use blue Loctite on the screw threads. Don't go real cheap on the scope. Use good scope rings.

Weigand is my go-to.
Have them on many different S&Ws. with excellent results.

Thanks for the quick reply Mike. The Weigand seems to get good feedback, which was a factor in my consideration of it.

As far as scopes. I'm leaning to a Leupold or Burris, but any input is welcomed.

Your scopes list is a good one.
Think red dots, too.

TAROMAN,

Thanks for your input. Those scope mounts look pretty good to me. I'm certainly leaning towards the Weigand.

As far as red dots, I use them on other guns and like them, but my eyes are getting to the point where I need some magnification for 25 & 50 yard load testing (I've used magnified red dots and just don't care for the sight picture), so I'm planning to go with a traditional long eye relief scope in this instance.

Any specific recommendation for a 2x or 4x scope? Prefer Leupold, Burris or something else??

Thanks

For load testing at 50 yards from a rest, the higher magnification would be best IMHO. The Leupold and Burris are probably some of the best scopes for the money. You can't beat Leupold's lifetime warranty.

I have shot scoped handguns for years. The Weigand is probably one of the best mounts in terms of engineering and value for the money. I have several of them.

I think some of the best handgun scopes are Burris. I have them on heavy recoil guns and they hold up well, clicks are repeatable, glass is clear, etc. On a M19, any good quality scope should be fine. You can get a smaller group with a crosshair than a red dot because the crosshair gives a finer definition of the exact aiming point on the target.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I think I will go with the Weigand mount.

I have one more question, if I might. Though I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer (if not, I'll check with the manufacturer as time allows this week).

I have seen several used Burris scopes for sale on various online sites, any idea if a USED Burris would be covered by any sort of warranty to the second hand owner? I like the prices on some of the used Burris scopes I've seen, and it seems that Burris has a good reputation for a quality scope, just want to cover my bases if I get a bad one.

Thanks all.
