Hey guys just have a question about ammo since I got the my Sd40ve I've used 180 grain ammo last night I picked up a 200 box of 165 grain. Am I going to notice a difference? What grain have you guys had the best experience with?
Depends on the gun and your purpose.
For competition, the heavier bullets are more common, to reduce the sharpness of the recoil when loading to a set power factor for sanctioned rules.
On the other hand, I have a Brn HP Practical with fixed sights that shoot high with 180 gr and requires 165gr to shoot to POA.
For the SW/SDs .40 S&W, I've found they shoot to POA with 180gr at USPSA distances up to 50 yds. Of course, if you only shoot at self defense distances (10yds) you'll never notice the difference.

"Best experience with" is kinda subjective. Ammo is designed to do different stuff. What you gotta do is decide what is most important to you. Lighter ammo, lighter recoil, easier to shoot generally. Heavier ammo, more penetration (usually), more energy transfer, a little more recoil. Decide what you want, fast follow up, hardest hitting, most energy, most accurate. Then experiment.
