A while back during a discussion on using bronze wool soaked in oil to work on removing rust, I saw a different type of "wool" mentioned. Looking at the web site it said it was like razor blades and didn't cut into blued finishes. I can't remember what it was called. Anybody know what I talking about? Thanks, Al

I bought one , a few years ago , tried it on the exterior of an old shotgun that needed some light rust removal and it scratched the metal something awful....I nolonger will use it on the exterior....it is thin coiled ribbons of , it looks like , stainless steel. How this stuff is not supposed to scratch up a blue finish I have no idea.
Before you use it on a valuable gun...try it out on something like a scrap piece of rusty metal.....it messed up my gun big time when it scored the metal . I'm not joking...try it first .
I would send you the one I had but I tossed it after trying a coil wrapped around a bore brush for cleaning a barrel. Didn't like it for that either.
The stuff is way to coarse...razor wire is a great description of the stuff. Steel and bronze wool are a lot better.... in my experiences .
That baloney about it not scratching is doodly squat...
Those wire coils are NOT softer than bluing...

The Big 45 Frontier pads work great. As does copper wool, which I get at the dollar store.

The Big45Frontier pad sare actually Monell.I have actually scrubbed a blued gun with one of these in my parts washer tub.The tub was filled with K-1 and the gun (an old neglected 10-22 came out looking new! I couldnt believe it.

I use pure copper Chore Boy scouring pads. At your local grocer for 99 cents. Use with Kroil for best results.

Scotchbrite will remove bluing like sandpaper. Don't use it.
