Pre Model 15 Barrel
Hi:
I have a pre-dash combat masterpiece that needs a new barrel.
Can a later Model 15 barrel fit this older revolver ?
Thanks,
Jimmy

Agree, if possible finding one with the hole for the barrel pin and the same style of stamping as on the old barrel would make it look nice.

The pinned barrels do not have a hole they have a small slot and anyone who has a decent small file could have the slot filed in less than a minute. The slot isn't that precise either. You can turn a pinned barrel about 5 or more degrees in either direction if the barrel shoulder doesn't torque up right to the frame. The pin actually does about nothing. If a barrel came untorgued it would stop it from turning more than 5 degrees and thats about it. They do look nice though.

Is it a 'Pre dash' or a 'Pre 15'? The very early pre model number guns have a narrower rib than the latter barrels.

True. My 15-3 also has the tapered barrel and narrow rib. My 15-6 has the heavy barrel and wide rib. Someone here will know when the change was made. Unless I'm missing something, the Standard Catalog does not indicate when it happened. but the pinned barrel was eliminated in in 1982 with the 15-5.
