Default Threads on frame of 642

I have had the side plate off of all my Smith & Wesson steel revolvers. Had no problems. I have never taken the side plate off of my 642. How well do the threads hold up in the aluminum alloy frame compared to the steel? How easy is it to over torque the screws on them?

Obviously it is easier to over torque screws in aluminum and strip them out than it is to strip out steel.

These aren't Harley Davidson's that we are working on. Just use your finger tips on a well fitting screwdriver and you can apply about 15 in-lbs, enough to hold the parts together without stripping anything.

I've never stripped out aluminum threads. You want it tight but don't "Gorilla tighten it". make SURE you use a proper fitting Hollow Ground Screwdriver.

Thank you sir. I spent my 20s and 30s working on oil rigs and saw mills.we used impact wrenches at the saw mill and Cameron wrenches with sledgehammers on the oil rigs. I can be a little heavy handed at times. Aluminum threads worried me. Thank you again for your reply.
