Default spring kit interesting find

I bought this spring kit a couple of weeks ago but still haven't decided wether I will install it and only opened the shipping package today.

I was surprised to find the 12# to be so much longer than the 13 and 14. With the naked eye the wire diameter doesn't seem different so ... what gives?

Still haven't decided to install so I am just curious.

The wire looks slightly smaller in diameter to me.

Length means nothing with springs. The diameter, tempering and probably a lot more I know nothing about will change the look and size. In the picture it looks like the diameter of the steel on the 13# and 14# springs seem to be thicker than in the 12# spring but it might just be the picture.

I believe their 12# wire diameter is .030" and approx 18 coils in length. The heavier springs should be around .032". A slight diameter difference makes a huge difference in weight.

By the way....be sure to wear protective glasses if you decide to use the longer spring. It will become a high velocity projectile if you loose control of it. Don't ask me how I know this.
