Default Question on 24-3

I have a 24-3 barrel 4in that appears to have a non pinned non removable front sight blade . Is this the standard for 24-3? The reason I ask is i'm converting to a fixed sight configuration on a prewar frame. Thanks SR

Default Question on 24-3

Yes, the non-pinned front sight was standard on both the 4" and 6" barrels on the 24-3. I have both and neither are pinned. Hope this helps and I'm really surprised you've not gotten an answer to your question way before now.

Your converting a pre war frame (I presume the barrel sight) to a fixed sight configuration. Using a post war barrel?

Both the sight base and the blade were pinned in place and polished flush on earlier models.

Pre war fixed sights were forged integral with the barrel. Target sights were made at the factory by milling off the round fixed sight blade, and milling the sight base with a slot (mortise) for a target blade that was then pinned in place.

Both my 24-3 3" revolver and the 24-3 4" revolver have removable front sights. problem is the rivits are flush with the barrel surface. I use a high intensity light to locate the two rivits. On my 624 the rivits are big enough to hold the Empire State building. Frank
