Default Pre model 10 Q

Hi all
When I close cylinder where the front of the ejector rod locks in place there is side play (wiggle) which I think should be very little movement.
This prevents a tight lock up.
Looks like I just drive out the pin and replace the beveled part that engages the front (dished) part of the ejector rod.
Is this as easy as it looks?
Which way do I drive out the pin?
Hopefully I can source the part.
Sorry I don't know the proper terms for the parts.
The serial number is S853XXX
Thanks
Mike

What are you trying to achieve? If it's already very accurate and not spitting lead at the forcing cone, I'd leave it alone.

Hello
I believe the part needs to be replaced.
It is worn out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

It is quite easy to remove and replace the locking bolt. I believer the pin holding it in the barrel can be drifted out in either direction. Remember that the bolt is spring loaded so be careful it doesn't fly out. The basic replacement is just a reversal of what you've just done. Now comes the hard part, the tip of the bolt must be properly fit to accept your extractor rod by filing and stoning. You need to know where and when to file or stone. Also you have to ensure your extractor rod is straight (referred to as run-out) before trying to fit the bolt to it. You really need a rod tool to check this. Now that you know all this, take your revolver to a smith who has the proper tools. Like most parts in the lock works or cylinder, you can't just change them out, most have to be fit!

hardknocks,

You are looking for a "locking bolt" and a "locking bolt spring". Numrich would appear to be a source. It looks like that the same part fits the K-38 Outdoorsman, M&P K frame and the Victory K frame. Total cost for both is a whopping $8.70 plus shipping. The Schematic is not much help regarding how it's assembled. hardcase60

You can thank Oldchief for that information.

Hi all
Seems like a easy job, except checking extractor rod run out. (Thanks old chief)
Thanks for the help.
I appreciate you all taking the time.
Regards
Mike
