Default SW1911 fail to go to slide lock

Other than a magazine issue, would there be any other reason why the 1911 would fail to go to slide lock?

My pistol was failing in this regard. I was using Wilson combat 8-round mags but after changing the springs and followers the problem still persisted. This only began to occur after maybe 10K rounds were fired. My loads are USPSA major power factor.

I switched to Tripp Res. Cobra 8R-45-RG magazines. The gun now functions normally with only the occasional fail to go to slide lock.

Would there be are any other parts in the function of the slide lock that should be changed or looked at? Approximately 10K rounds fired.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Take a look at the slide lock's arm that actually contacts the follower to see if it's worn.

Make sure it's not a 9mm/.38S slide lock. There is a different one for .45.

The part that makes contact with the Magazine could be at fault. Usually failures to lock back are the Magazines fault, but if all brands of Mag's produce failures, it's more than likely the part that contacts the Mag.
