Since the arrival of automatic sport pistol cal 32 cal. S&W long - Walther, Pardini, Hämmerli etc..., the agonist shooters would primarily shoot in the center fire contests the 38 caliber mod.14. Five shots in every reprise for a total of 70 shots. S&W Mod 14 was really a good revolver but I always wondered why our beloved S&W had never mounted a five or six inch barrel on a mod.36 and a micrometer click rear sight. Shooting line should be lower and the gun lighter. Moreover my mod.36 three inch square butt is really precise at 25 meters. A longer barrel would make the line of sight longer, which is really an advantage. In the ""Standard catalog of Smith & Wesson page 243 - 4th edition" I read that about two dozen of six inch barreled mod.36 were made. I am quite sure that such a revolver would have become a must here in Europe. I tried to have placed six inch barrel on my two mod.36 but every gunshop, even the most blazoned, told me that only Smith & Wesson could perform this operation. I wonder if I could have this work done by Smith & Wesson. In conclusion this is the question I am putting forward. Thank You.
