Question S&W Gunsmith Houston area

I am looking for a S&W "wheel gun" smith in the Houston Tx. area. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Chris Hirsch is in Sugar [email protected]--281 491 1680.

Specializes in antiques (and is a WIZARD), but a gun's a gun---can't hurt to ask.

Alan Harton is a Houston gunsmith; his reputation is built on single actions, but members here have used him for S&W revolvers and recommend.

Alternately, if a few hours' drive is okay, 10 Ring Precision in San Antonio and LSG Manufacturing in Comanche are established S&W revolversmiths with excellent reputations.

Lastly, I'd give Houston's Collector's Firearms a call -- they deal in a lot of old S&Ws and might have a recommendation for a qualified local revolversmith.

I had Alan Harton convert two Old Model Ruger .357s to .44 Special for me. He also converted a S&W M28 to .44 Special, using a factory target barrel and rechambering the cylinder. Other than having recessed chambers, it looked like a factory built .44.
