Default Anyone have a long term Model 986 firing pin solution?

I have been shooting my Model 986 two to three times a week since I bought it and have over 1000 rounds through the gun so far. Last week it started having one or two FTFs on every moon clip. I looked under a loop this morning and it appears that the firing pin is mushroomed or broken? It’s hard to tell with my poor eyesight. Has anyone found a long term solution for this issue?

I don't have a 986 but I have other revolvers that had FTF or light strikes right out of the box. I use an extra length FP (Apex or C&S) for these.

No idea why the FP would be damaged after 1000 rounds. Factory FP?

Are you sure the strain screw didn't loosen up & just needs tightening? Maybe that was just dirt/debris on the FP?

.

I carry spares.
Mine didn't mushroom but rather snapped in half.
IIRC the Apex variant is more robust than C&S.
