Default S&W SD9VE

So, I'm decent with long rifles and iffy with shotguns. I've had a little experience with repairing and correcting malfunctions on handguns, but just what my dad taught me.

My buddy drops off his SD9VE at my place today asking for my help. So, good old boy was doing lord knows what to it, and now...

Slide wont open, I can't rack it at all. Trigger group pin has been removed and won't go back in and I can't get the darn thing open to figure out what's wrong with the trigger group, any ideas?

first and foremost.....verify it is not loaded.

stick someone down the barrel and measure before you go looking down the barrel.

I am more of a Glock guy but they are very similiar and wondering if you have a stuck case and a two hand over the slide and try to retract back or

place the slide front edge of a braced wood edge and while gripping the gun, rap the back of your grip hand to force the slide open.

make sure muzzle pointed in a safe direction if loaded.

So it's not loaded, I can confirm that.
And that didn't work.

New discovery, the slide lock won't move at all.

Guess on my part

Try to push the trigger upward while trying to retract the slide

if you can drop a nail or something similiar into the trigger pin hole to work the trigger.

you might have to get ugly with this gun.

good luck

I was able to pull down on the slide lock a little more, however the slide won't move further. So my buddy told me that before he gave up on it, he tried fiddling around in the area with the mag well meets the slide and he did something to something (descriptive, I know) in there. I sent an image of that as well, anything look a miss or positioned incorrectly in there?

too me and its a pure guess on my part

the trigger bar is angled up at the rear and put the slide in a bind.

if you could find some way to move the front of the trigger up and get something in the trigger pin hole......maybe it would free up enough to take apart.

based on the image....trigger bar looks out of alignment.

Hell, depress the firing pin safety and see if that frees up anything.

YOU ARE A GENIUS. A GENIUS, I SAY!

Managed to slide a small rod through and it was just enough to allow the slide lock to come down and it came right apart. Thank goodness.
