Default Fitting new style cylinder to older N Frame

Hello all, I am looking for some advice. I have built an ICORE revolver out of an older 28-2 6" and I am very pleased with how it has turned out. I have recently acquired a newer style 627 unfluted cylinder and I would like to put that on my 28-2. I'm not unfamiliar with gunsmithing and I have all the correct tools and access to a mill and lathe. I have not yet however attempted to do this particular type of job before and I was just wondering if anyone had any pointers for making this easier on me before I start. I am only really doing this for esthetics although I also will be cutting the new cylinder for moon clips so there is some functionality reasons to my madness as well. I will point out the overall length, based on my measurements is exactly the same on my two cylinders, subtracting the rim thickness of course, because the original cylinder is recessed. Thank you for any advice or pointers in advance
Kyle

You will blow up the gun on the first shot. The cylinder may fit on the frame, but the bolt circle of an 8 shot is .060 bigger than the bolt circle on a 6 shot. That means that the centerline of the cylinder hole is .030 above the centerline of the barrel. The bullet will not be able to negotiate a .030 offset to go from cylinder into barrel. The barrel on a 627 frame is .030 higher than on a 28 frame to account for this.

The cylinder is not an 8 shot it is a 6 shot. Again I'm not unfamiliar with revolver work. Thank you for the input though. Also I guess "newer" style is a relative term here as I only mean the 627 cylinder has the newer style ejector star

The only thing you might run into is the length of the crane where it bottoms out inside the cylinder. I have found the depth of the hole on cylinders to be somewhat variable. If there is a difference, you can either alter the crane to fit the new cylinder or counterbore the shallow one so they are interchangeable. It sounds like you are pretty well equipped, I don't think you will have any problems.
