627 + Black Nitriding
Like many here, I can't leave things alone. I got a wild hair for a two-tone revolver and off to H&M Black Nitriding my 627 went for a completely unnecessary makeover - I also sent my Delta Elite's barrel and bushing. This stuff is good looking and EXTREMELY durable. I believe it has a Rockwell hardness of 70 and penetrates 5 mills.
My buddy's 15 has had its cylinder cycled several thousand times and there's still no discernible turn line.

Very nice
How much did H&M charge you for the refinishing the cylinder?
The factory did a 5" Pinto years ago, but not many were produced

Wow - a place that'll plate/coat just a cylinder and do a great job? This is 'zactly what I have been looking for!! ... unless it's $100 to nitride just the slynder ...
Edited to add: I didn't see a pricing/price quote section on their webpage ...

Nice heater!!
As an affiliate of an International arms manufacture, I received promotional pricing.
Here's the contact info for H&M:
Please contact “Ritt” at H&M Metal Processing of Special Products Division for pricing and shipping details:
He can be reached at (330)745-3075 or [email protected]

How well does it work for cleaning off the carbon on the front of the cylinder? If it wasn't such a PITA to remove the barrel, I'd make mine into a pinto.

Wow! Nice to meet another person on this site that actually cleans the cylinder face besides me.
Sorry, having just installed it at 0100 hours this morning, I haven't had the chance to dirty it yet; however I'll be happy to report back.
