Default 686-3 Hammer Push-off

I was heart broken when my 686-3 2 1/2" started to have hammer push off, I called a few local gunsmiths in my area, they didn't seem too well versed in the revolver repair area. Estimates ranged from $50-$150 and they would need about two days. I e-mailed Frank Glenn in Phoenix Arizona, about 1 hour away from my house. He responded to me very quickly, and said if it wasn't the hammer, he could fix it while I waited for $25. I went to him on Tuesday, he was a real gentleman, did the fix in about 5 minutes. From what I have heard he is one of the best around, from what I experienced I would tend to agree. I now have my trusty 686-3 back in the rotation. It was nice to see a true master of his craft in action.

Best possible outcome. If you know what you're doing, it really is a 5 minute job of stoning the trigger.

It's always good to have some spare parts for guns no longer in production.

The 686-3 has flash chromed hammer and trigger but the 686-4 parts will work in it.

On ebay you can buy a cut up frame with all the internal parts for a 686-3 for $75.

I have a few 686-3 and 686-4 in 2 1/2" and I bought these frames for the parts a while ago when they were offered at $60-$65

Do a 686 internal parts search on ebay and you will find them.

A hammer and trigger alone are worth the $75 if you need them.

EDIT:Here's a link to a post I made with photos of the parts I got for a 686-3

Frank does great work is truly one of the last masters. Guys like him are just not coming up in the world anymore due to changing times. 30-40yrs from now it will be a lot worse I imagine.

Glad it worked out for you and yes, it usually is an easy stoning job on the trigger to solve push-off.
