Medallion Removal
I have refinished a number of S&W stock sets. Have never taken the medallions out. Is there any easy way of doing this without causing damage? Thanks, Bob

The Medallions are kept in the wood stock by a type of washer. The medallion stud is peened over the washer and to remove it the peened part must be ground off. After that you will need to push it out carefully so the wood is not damaged. If you want to reuse the same Medallion, you will need to epoxy it in as the stud will then be too short for re-peening. Really not a big deal, just go carefully and support the wood grips evenly so you do not crack them.

PS: only a drop or two of epoxy is needed. Too much and you will have a mess on the grips! It won't take much to hold them in.
