I have a 625-2 that has a bead blasted finish from the factory. The revolver has a few scuffs and shiny spots from holster wear and I've considered redoing the bead blasted finish.
The problem is that the "Smith & Wesson" and "45 Cal Model of 1989" markings on the barrel are laser etched, not roll marks. I'm guessing those would be lost during bead blasting, but I'm not sure.
If you bead blast again the laser markings will be erased.
You can mask the marks off with tape, but you have to precisely match the original bead blast media type and air pressure or it'll leave a "frame" around the markings that were covered.
