Need a replacement front sight for K-38
Hi guys,
I have a K-38 from 1951 (I think). Anyway, does anyone know where I could get a replacement factory front sight? It seems to measure .400 tall from the top of the sight to the barrel.
I want to use the gun for Bullseye and the rules for Distinguished Revolver require unmodified factory parts. The front sight on the gun has been thinned down.
I've looked at Ebay, Gunbroker, Numrich and called Clark Custom Bob Jones to see if they had anything in their parts bins.
Do you guys know of any other places that I should to search?
Thanks for your help.
Dave

I had a similar problem several years ago trying to return a K38 to it's original configuration. I hunted for months, and finally contacted a friend that had been a part time gunsmith for a Sherrif's dept. He did have one, but it cost me over $100 for the original part. You might be better off selling the gun and buying something all original for your use.

Thanks guys.
It's so time consuming to register guns out here that I dread the process. That old K-38 may be my most accurate revolver and something about the action feels so solid and precise. It's unlike any other S&W I own.
Thank you very much,
Dave

Perhaps you can tailor a load that will match up with your existing front sight.......

Hi Randy,
It's the Bullseye Distinguished Revolver rule that requires unmodified, factory sights that is causing the change.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks, I'm on the way to the post office to send a check to Mike in Iowa for a replacement sight. Thanks S&W Forum!
