I just won a XP 100 in 7mmBR of GB. Got it cheap because of some rust and pitting on barrel and a bit on receiver. I can block sand the receiver and set it up in my lathe and turn sand the barrel and re blue, but if the bore is pitted I want to rebarrel it to 6mm Remington because I have 3 rifles in that caliber.
Sure I can turn the threads for receiver and see how the chamber is recessed for bolt head. Know how to run chambering reamer.
Can measuring and match the recess to shoulder and get use a go no go gauge to head space.
But, want to know if there a regular procedure for this. Same action as the Mohawk 600, 600 rifles and I believe the short action 700s except the XP actions have no magazine cut out.
Anyone did anything like this that would give me a bit of a how to do that would save me reinventing the wheel.
