I thought they used to have a price list for services including refinishing but when I looked just now I couldn't fine it anymore.

Here is the link, click on "Finishing - Revolvers". $220 for matte blue as noted above.

Keep in mind that Smith doesn’t use the same bluing system now as was used when your gun was built.
The current system produces an inferior result, in my opinion.

S&W's "newer" bluing not only won't stand up as well (as the original) and it is not really a Blue anymore - pretty much black in color. I do not know exactly what they changed in the process, but I have seen some recent re-blued guns and they are certainly different.
I have never used Ford's but I'd suggest calling them and finding out if THEY can duplicate the original finish. I've heard good things about Ford's.
I've used Mid West Gunworks in MO for long guns and they do a spectacular job but I don't think they do hand guns.

Does anyone here know exactly WHAT changed in S&W's Bluing process? I was under the impression the State of MA cracked down on what Chemicals they could and could not use, but don't know for sure.

The high polish blue runs about $280. I've had a few revolvers done in the past 2 or 3 years.

Let's not forget guys, we're talking about a model 28 which had a flat finish, not the super polished blue of it's sibling 27.
