Default S & W FACTORY HAMMERS

I am looking for a couple of spur less factory hammers for K frame model 65.

Can someone here point me in the right direction?

Good luck. Numrich didn't have them, you might try Jack First. Having said that, not having a hammer spur leaves you in a really bad situation if, for several reasons, the trigger won't move and rotate the cylinder/cock the hammer.

This can be caused by: glove material pinched between frame & trigger that won't let the trigger go all the way forward, debris under the extractor, high primer and cratered primer that enters the firing pin hole in the breech and locks the cylinder. Burrs on the firing pin hole can also get caught on the firing pin indent in the primer.

All of those can be cured by a hearty yank on the hammer spur.

Parts are about the ONLY reason I go to Gun Shows anymore. There are a couple a year I attend and two vendors routinely have parts segregated into many of those plastic divider boxes. Many of the parts are used but some are Factory new and never saw the inside of a gun. The prices are not great, but hey, when you need something and they have it - you buy it. They also seem to have parts for Colt's also and over the years I've put a nice collection of spare parts together to keep my collection working for a long time to come. I don't go binge buying crazy but I always like to have common parts that do wear out like Hands, Hammers, Triggers, Screws, and Springs. A few extra sets of common Grips never hurt either.

I like the ability to repair a broken part and get a Revolver back into tip top condition immediately and without having to be at the mercy of the on-line parts sellers. I also like to hand select parts that are not worn more than the ones that I am replacing! It's also nice to SEE in person and make sure you are getting the correct part or variation for your exact Revolver. When someone picks out a part for you on-line it is sheer luck if you actually get exactly what you want.

I suggest attending a few of your local shows and see if they have Parts Guys there. Good hunting!

I have had good luck buying parts on ebay. Some sellers put up good pictures so that you can judge condition really well. Be patient and diligent and you can get some real bargains. I have not however seen any factory DAO hammers in my searches.

There are a number of parts venders on the internet.

Unless you specifically need factory hammers I would just mod a standard hammer which are easy to find.

Good luck in your search
