As of last year, they still sold K-frame parts, IF they have them in stock. I ordered a Model 10 cylinder, specifically wanting for a -5, and they sent the wrong cylinder. Chances are you'll get someone on the phone who knows little or nothing about revolvers. To their credit, though, they took it back no questions asked and issued a refund.

Some parts they will sell and others they won't. It all depends on weather or not the part needs to be fit, weather they feel it's a liability for the owner to fit & install, and of course it also depends if they make it or stock it any longer.

For older gen revolver parts, I'd say Numrich Gunparts (gunpartscorp.com) is the way to go.

It’s a set of screws (inspection plate & cylinder latch) and barrel pin, all stainless for a model 65, that I need.
Almost forgot, one inspection plate blue screw for a model 19

Midway also has a pretty good selection of parts on hand.

Try eBay; it's surprising what you can find there and every sale is guaranteed by them.

Like everyone has noted.. look everywhere but Smith & Wesson..
I ordered a sight slide repair kit from them, never saw it and was never told it was back ordered or if I'd ever see it.
To add: I was told by S&W ,that when inventory of parts come in they fill the large backorders from retail merchants first, then what's left is used to fill their b/o's..
