Default 28/27 parts

Hi, a few questions.
Will 27 parts interchange with 28 parts. Say hammer and trigger.

if so, are these parts still factory available. Color case that is.

here is my thought. i was thinking of getting a worn, but not worn out service grade 28-2 shooter, putting a red insert in the front sight, and doing a TT/TH exchange. Then rebluing it 2 look like a 27.

Any of this make sense? Just a project gun

Except for finish the Models 27 and 28 are the same gun, so, yes, parts will interchange! All of them!

Availability is the question, but most still are with no problems.

It will still be a Model 28, nothing will improve it's performance, just its cost. It's your gun, spend all you want on it.

I know I would be somewhat upside down in it, and I am aware of the 2 finish types. People put customizing into cars all the time, and when you are all done, it is still a 6 cyl. Mustang, that you can't get your money back on

Dunno how much of a 27 youre wanting but 28 rear sight base is smooth, unlike the 27. And 28 barrel has the HP markings, not to mention top strap checkering on 27.
Not to be a smartazz but you asked if it made sense... to me it doesn't but it's your project.

It's not only the finish that's different. The top of the backstrap on a 27 is chequered and so is the top of the barrel rib.

The model 28 is an excellent revolver on it's own right. It don't need, nor deserve, those sort of transverties.

There. I said it. And feel better already.

Pete,
I've seen lots of Model 28-2's that have wear.......never ever seen one that's worn out. For the caliber it is way over built. it's the one gun I always look for at shows....I have both 4's and 6's. Shooting full boat 357's in a 6" N frame is a treat. Good luck

Guess i will drop the idea. I love 28's also, and have 3 nice examples . My first handgun ever was a 28. 101.00 brand new

Pete,
Nice 28's. Don't try to make them something they're not...
