Default S&W Grip Refinishing

Hi Guys, I've refinished numerous revolver grips. The wood comes out good. But seems I always get the medallions coated as well. How do you keep the liquid out of the medallions? Thanks.

Brilliant! Worked like a charm. Waiting for the grips to dry. Much appreciated.

I have also used a tape disc. The candle wax trick might work OK. Another idea is to use a Q-Tip with acetone to clean oil off the medallions after application. I have done that too, but only on metal medallions.

I did a trial run first. Wax came right off with a toothpick. Second coat now applied. I like a deep rich semi gloss look.
