My 39-2 is not ejecting, a new round is being stripped and jams to the rear of the fired casing. Extractor, recoil spring or other problem ?
How difficult is it to replace extractor if that's the issue.

Check the extractor for proper tension and freedom of movement. And, check the claw with a magnifier to see if there is evidence of damage to the bevel.
I would suspect that the recoil spring needs to be replaced, but if you have done that recently, then attention would turn toward suspecting the extractor or extractor spring.

Thanks Armorer951. I will replace the recoil spring. The extractor claw seems to be in good shape.

1. Recoil spring, try a new, 14 pound (S&W factory spec) spring.
2. Inspect the extractor claw for chipped/broken/rounded edges.
3. Clean the extractor cutout with aerosol cleaner. Non-chlorinated brake cleaner works great and is cheap, just use it outdoors, don't breathe the fumes. Soaking the slide in solvent and using compressed air to blow dissolved crud out of the cutout will also work.
4. If all of that fails to correct the problem, then it is likely a weak or broken extractor spring.
