I have a Model 60-10 (no-lock) that I use for knocking around the farm and surrounding woods. The previous owner had it refinished by Robar with a green frame and barrel and a black cylinder. It has the narrow hammer spur (MIM hammer and trigger with frame-mounted firing pin). I much prefer the wider spur that the hammer on my 60-4 has. I am interested in finding a replacement hammer (preferably a hammer/trigger pair) that has the wider hammer spur like the 60-4.

Does S&W make a wide-spur hammer that would fit the 60-10? Does anyone know if the hammer from a J-frame from a rimfire model (e.g., Model 63 or 34-1) would work? All of the current-production J-frames appear to have the narrow-spur hammer.

That's a good observation and question. I don't have a rimfire w/MIM parts. But just from cognitive reasoning, I'd be very surprised if they didn't interchange!!

The only difference on the former forged hammers was the hammer nose (firing pin) and the angle of the hammer face on the center fire hammer. Because I've substituted center fire hammers in old rimfire guns when a hammer wasn't available.

You'll just have to look on line for a picture of the MIM J frame rimfire hammer until the gun shops open and you can compare your gun's hammer with a J frame rimfire MIM model in the store. Or call S&W and ask if they are the same or have the same part #.

I've put wide hammers in most of my J frames (all pre MIM parts) because I prefer them that much. So your quest is certainly a worthy one.
