Parkerizing services
I have a S & W US 1917 that has most of the finish gone, with a few small pits in one spot. The gun is all matching, including the grips, but very much finish challenged. I would like to get it parked, but having no luck finding any shops that do this in the S/E Penna, area. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Ken

Locally I don't know anyone but you might call MidWest Gun Works and ask them. I know they have done so in the past - don't know if they still do.
I have used them twice to re-blue rifles and have been more than pleased with their workmanship, pricing and turn-around times.

I haven't used them, but Cummings Custom Refinishing (CCR) has consistently gotten positive reviews. They'd be the first place I'd look if I were going to refinish one of my guns. Their focus is on more high-tech finishes, but they also do parkerizing.

I have used Shuff's Gunsmith / Parkerizing services with excellent results and service. Google for his website and details. One of his specialties is Parkerizing and offers different shades/tones depending on the firearm.

If you enjoy piddling with guns and have a few basic tools, Parkerizing is not at all difficult. Some way to bead blast it like a cheap gravity fed blasting gun, some Park-ing compound (make your own) anda stainless steel pot to do it in, and your set.
I've done three Ishapores, an M-1 Carbine, and among others, this old H&R 922-
