Hi all,
So I needed to replace the rear sight parts on my 27-2 because for whatever reason it was very hard to move and had no clicks when the windage adjusting screw was turned.
The leaf moved but the screw was very mushy and stalled in spots and needed excessive force to move further.
So I watched the Midway and Brownells videos on how to do this but my windage adjustment screw would not break at the end of travel like it is supposed to so the parts can be removed.
I ended up buggering the screw slot using more force to try and break the screw to the point that any screwdriver cannot get enough purchase in the screw head to turn it.
Now I know it's next to impossible to find a replacement sight platform for a 27-2 so how can I get these parts out of the sight platform to replace them?
Could the screw end in the slotted nut on the other side be drilled?
I know that the screw is staked in the nut but is it possible, or is there another way to get the parts out of the platform without destroying it?
I have all the associated new parts coming from Brownells, I just need some guidance on how to get the old ones out.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
