Default Anyone purchased a new barrel from S&W lately?

Hello, I’m interested in buying a 3” 686 barrel to swap into my 686-5, newer production and roll marks are fine for this project.... but I was wondering if anyone has been able to buy a new barrel from S&W lately? Will they sell just a barrel? I’ve already placed an add on the WTB forum here, looked at Brownells, midway, and numrich.... no luck

If S&W won’t sell does anybody have any ideas ? Id hate to buy another gun just to harvest the barrel....

If they have the barrel in stock that you want, I believe they will install it for you.....for a fee, of course. They used to not sell magnum caliber barrels "over the counter" so to speak to the general public. I'm not sure they sell barrels at all now. You could give "Customer Service" a call to check: 1-800-331-0852.

I did see some barrels and shrouds (the new ones) available at MGW today, but I'm not sure they sell the older style barrels.

Installing a barrel is not a simple task. If you haven't been trained, leav it to someone who has been.

Richard, I couldn’t agree more..... but to be clear.... I said swap..... I never said it was a simple task/swap...... and for that matter I never said I was going to do the work myself.... but thanks for the fair warning.... I planned to have someone with experience do the work. 👍

I’m just asking if anyone has purchased a barrel directly from S&W recently. I know they used to, I’ve done it before..... but that was 10-12 years ago....
I sat on the phone for my entire lunch hour/break today and never got to a human to even ask..... I guess I’ll keep trying and keep searching.

Can’t be that hard a little bit of filing and threading and you can do it. Might not come out that good but I’ll shoot Anyone purchased a new barrel from S&W lately?
